When detox does more harm than good
It’s become very trendy to jump on various cleanse and/or detox protocols. Given the toxic burden we all carry, it’s certainly a much-needed practice most of us would benefit from by incorporating into your lifestyle regularly. However, it’s also very important to understand, that to achieve the best results (and not to cause more harm) when detoxing, we need to progress in a certain order. First of all, before any detox or cleanse, we must make sure that our detox pathways are open. Here are some of the most important drainage channels in our body:
- Bowels
- Lymph
- Liver & bile
- Kidneys
- Skin
- Lungs
- Cycles for women
If these drainage pathways are clogged and not cleansing properly, you are simply recycling toxins and putting more and more of a burden on your liver. This happens when you are trying to detox, and your body is releasing more toxins into the bloodstream than it has the ability to clear at that time. Forgetting to support your natural detox and drainage pathways is very common and can cause you to feel worse when you do start a detox program. And on the contrary, by supporting them, your body will be better able to detox naturally!
