As for many other mothers, my non-toxic journey started during my first pregnancy. As I was at that time doing equity research for a living, the analyst in me embarked on a mission to scrutinize the baby product market. Little did I know that I had put myself in a proper rabbit hole. Six years have past, and I’m still learning and researching – although my scope has broadened way beyond the baby product market.
Having discovered the link between toxins and disease, we not only adjusted our diet but also the products we were buying. Some of the first things we did was giving away our plastic food storage containers and water bottles. Since we are living in a tropical climate, it’s very important not to leave either food or water in any plastic ware, which can easily leach endocrine disrupting chemicals – especially when left in warm temperatures. Avoiding plastic cups or containers is especially important if you are pregnant, trying to conceive or have small kids as plastic is known to cause metabolic disorders and reproductive issues – among other things.
